Okay, so some of you may have heard this album before, some not. If you havent’ and are a fan of the likes of Radical Face, The Middle East, Fredrik, or even some Elliot Smith, definitely give this album a listen. Neko is the singer from The New Pornographers, and has been doing solo work for a while. This is, I believe, her sixth album, but don’t take my word for it. Just give it a listen. Her voice gets the opportunity to shimmer here in a way that it sometimes does not in The New Pornographers. Also, its a glimpse into the song-writing that goes into their music, which is pretty cool if you ask me. Anyways, the album is all over torrent, but if you like supporting artists with money aside from seeing them live, by all means buy it. But at least have a listen to this. Some key tracks, if you aren’t the type to lisen to the entire album through, are Middle Cyclone, The Pharohs, Polar Nettles, and especially Vengeance Is Sleeping. The album ends with a thirty minute symphony of chirping crickets. Intriguing.
